Carry-It-All: Stylish Baby Bags
April 3, 2012 in Children
Choosing the right baby bag is so important. It goes everywhere with you and holds all the essential items a mum could need.
I asked some very stylish mums what their advice was when it comes to choosing the perfect baby bag…
“I like big nappy bags and ones with heaps of pockets so I can ‘allocate’ things (socks, bibs, nappies) to different parts to make things easy to find. I want them to look pretty yet ‘manly’ enough that Mr doesn’t mind carrying it around too. Oh and nothing too gender specific. I want to be able to reuse the nappy bag down the track regardless of if we have another boy or a girl.” – Melinda (Mumma In Heels)
“It’s important to have quick access to things like keys and bottles, so slip pockets are very handy. It’s also great if a nappy bag comes with its own change mat, bottle warmer and a zip lock bag for any wet items like bibs. If a bag looks great too, then that’s a bonus!” – Amy (Absolute Amy)
“Why our Daddy Diaper Nappy Bag ticks all the boxes for us…insulated bottle holder; 3 large compartments (which can hold a variety of essentials such as rusks, food pouches, lip gloss, pens and teething toys), clips for stroller strap, large interior space to house everything you need for bubs when you are out and about (I seriously pack the kitchen sink in this bag). But the best aspect of this bag is this….There is a checklist for Dads which is screened on the magnetic flap, so no more worries about them leaving the nappies or wipes at home!” - Katie (Mumma on the Run)
“Don’t assume size is everything – remember that you will probably end up carrying this bag around all the time. The bigger it is the more things you will try to put in there, the heavier it is. Think about your pram: what kind of handles does it have, how big is the storage basket? Remember that Dad is also going to have to carry this bag. You may think hot pink is in fact hot, Dad probably will not. While you are thinking about nappy bags also think about bottle holders and dummy covers. Some bags will come with them, other will not so you will have to purchase them separately. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in baby stores try luggage or leather shops. One of my favourite nappy bags was a leather bucket bag from a leather shop. I still use it all the time.” – Jaclyn (@ClassicJac)
“A practical bag that suits your style will become an all time favourite.” – Andrea (Fox in Flats)

Great post girls, nappy bag shopping can be really confusing, there are so many choices! This post is a really helpful guideline for any expectant mum. Amy xxx (Ps. Love the Charlie bag!!)
Thank you for the kind comment Amy – Sonia did a great job! It is really interesting to see all the mums opinions on what they look for in a nappy bag too. Melinda. Xx
This is enough to make me want to be a mumma bear
Between this post and our Winter babies picks, I think everyone is having a bit of a cluck Karina! Xx
Can I say something naughty?
I strongly dislike all mum’s bags… and consequently I do not own any. Seriously, since the wipes warmers i think these mummy bags is the biggest marketing trick. You’ll be absolutely perfectly fine without any strangely looking bag.
I’m just being honest, lovelies
xoxo
That’s not naughty at all
We appreciate all the opinions of our readers (especially honest ones!).
Thank you for reading lovely. Melinda. Xx
P.S – you don’t even like the Charlie bag? I think he is divine!!
