3 Colour Trends From MBFWA

May 8, 2012 in Fashion

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) took Sydney by storm last week and showcased an array of super talented Australian designers.

There were several key trends that emerged from the runway shows, but rather than recap them all, we have picked 3 colour-based trends that are easy for everyone to adopt for Spring Summer 2012/2013.

1. Brights

Designers such as Oroton, Akira and Carl Kapp featured bright colours in their collections, and with neon colours already on the scene and in our wardrobes, it’s great to know this trend is going to continue for the rest of year and into Summer. The new colours to look for? Tangerine, cobalt blue and coral.

Colette Accessories ‘Stunning’ Earring

Forever New ‘Tammy’ Dress (in ‘Electric Dream’)

Alias Mae ‘Riddle’ Suede Bootie (in ‘Orange’) from Wanted Shoes

2. Metallics

From Johanna Johnston to Hardwick by Mariana Hardwick. From Bless’d Are The Meek to Oroton. Metallics were featured in accessories, evening gowns, shorts and more. The beauty of metallics is that you can wear as much or as little of it and in any form that you like. And if you’re like me, then metallics are always in fashion!!

PeepToe ‘Beaux & Arrows’ Necklace

Seed ‘Pearly Sequin’ Tank

Zu ‘Oxford’ Shoe (in ‘Gold’)

3. Pastels

From established designers such as Jayson Brunsdon to up-and-coming designers such as By Johnny, pastels made many appearances on the runway. The fun of pastels comes in the styling – you can go all the way dreamy and romantic, or do a complete 180 and toughen them up with textures such as leather and studs. It’s your choice.

Mimco Patent Turnlock Bag (in ‘Courtesan Pink’)

ASOS Ponti Mini Skirt With Belt (in ‘Lilac’)

ModCloth ‘A Little Owl Told Me’ Earrings

There’s some amazing coverage of all things MBFWA out there, so be sure to check out Crashing Red, Diaries of Bella, Lashes & Lattes and Styling You for more about hair, makeup and fashion trends.

Stay Chic,
