Colour My Home…Mint

July 19, 2012 in Lifestyle

Another day, another new series here at Shop Me Chic!

We’ve already debuted Mum-Me Chic, where we took one maternity dress and styled it three ways. Now, we’re looking at some easy and fun ways to update the look of your home by using coloured furniture and accessories.

We’re calling this series Colour My Home and to kick things off, we’ve chosen the colour of the moment…mint!

1.  Domayne Colours ‘Flower’ Bowl ($4.95)

2. KitchenAid Artisan Mixer from Peter’s of Kensington ($689.00)

3. Vintage Typography Print from Rock The Custard Prints on Etsy ($23.48)

4. Royal Doulton ‘Green Tea Cup’ from Peter’s of Kensington ($5.50)

If you’re going to find mint in any room of the house, of course it’s going to be the kitchen (haha)…! Kitchens these days are often very neutral and so the best way to add some personality is to simply add a dash of colour.  Etsy is a goldmine for cute and quirky prints, and this particular example is a perfect accompaniment to the ultimate baker’s tool – the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer.

1.  Matt Blatt ‘Replica Ross Lovegrove Supernatural Chair’ ($99.00)

2. Typo ‘Milton’ Tape Dispenser ($6.95)

3. Matt Blatt ‘Replica Simon Karkov Norm 69 Pendant Light’ ($85.00)

4. Typo Mail Box ($14.95)

If you’re going to be paying bills or preparing your tax return, you may as well make it more interesting with some fabulous accessories. Typo has the most incredible array of desk accessories, including this tape dispenser and mail holder, and every item is super affordable. Add a point of interest to your study/home office with a pendant light or unique chair, like these finds from Matt Blatt.

1.  Domayne ‘Connor’ Cushion ($29.95)

2. Freedom ‘Miss Hex’ Occasional Table (on sale $49.00)

3. Typography Poster from Field Trip on Etsy ($18.00)

4. Adorn Homewares ‘Minx’ Table Lamp with ‘Patsy’ Lampshade ($468.00)

According to this post on Refinery 29: “mint green should be the poster color for chill vibes. There’s no other color around (at least in our Pantone books) that soothes like mint green.” And so what better colour to decorate your bedroom? The addition of one or all of these picks will have your bedroom looking green and serene in no time.

Do you have mint green as part of your home’s colour scheme? What colour would you like to see featured in the next Colour My Home post?

Stay Chic,

Sonia. xx
