Get Her Chic: Maria from Crashing Red
August 1, 2012 in Fashion
Happy Wednesday Chicettes!
Last month we had the delight of having Bec from My Bloggable Day on Shop Me Chic rocking an on-trend neon outfit.
Today it’s a denim-free zone as we have our second guest blogger in the ‘Get Her Chic’ series, the super stylish Maria from CrashingRed.

;
Hi lovely ladies! My name is Maria. I currently reside in Sydney where we’re bringing up our brand new daughter and blogging at CrashingRed.com. I started blogging as a hobby and it quickly became my day (and night, 24/7) job. Feel free to pop over to have a look at what I do and most importantly, join us on Twitter or Facebook to talk about fashion, style and fun & easy DIY projects.
How would I describe my style? Eclectic, while I love to dress up in a rather feminine way (as say the look that I’m presenting here today) on a daily basis jeans are my uniform. Luckily I own about 15 pairs in all different colours so the opportunities for creating various outfits are endless!
About my outfit: Our friends organised a cocktail party last weekend and I took it as an opportunity to dress up. The shorts I scored during recent EOFY sales, because of their print I couldn’t resist. As for the rest, I bought the sweater in Moolooloba for $16! The shirt is from my corporate past and the heels were bought in Melbourne. The clutch has a separate story but it basically represents my incurable addiction to all things sparkly. So the look is essentially what my personal style is – a good mix of designer and very affordable items as well as things that were hanging in my wardrobe for many years. It’s not what you wear, its more about HOW you wear it
Have a lovely day!
Xx

Shakuhachi shorts, Zambessi shirt, No brand sweater, Tony Bianco heels, Forever New clutch, Bvlgari necklace (gifted)
Here is our take on Maria’s outfit:
We love Maria’s fun and feminine style. The pop of red on her nails paired with the sparkly Forever New clutch keeps this mostly black and white outfit being anything but ordinary!
1. BLK DNM Silk Shirt from Shopbop ($94.12 at 50% off)
2. Black Patent ‘Karissa’ from Tony Bianco ($149.95)
3. Shakuhachi Burlesque Borders Short from Urban Outfitters ($119.99)
4. Glam Geo Hardcase Clutch from Forever New ($59.99)
5. Loose Fit Black Knit from Cocolatte ($14.99)
6. House of Harlow 1960 Double Starburst Station Necklace from Shopbop ($87.18)
Now if only we had legs like Maria’s to pair with those shorts…!
Is this feminine outfit something you see yourself wearing?
Stay tuned tomorrow for the return of denim week… and speaking of denim, do you share Maria’s love of jeans? We would love to know if you own more than 15 pairs!
Stay Chic,
Melinda & Sonia. xx

Ah the lovely Maria! She looks beautiful – I love the mix of simple stylish pieces with the fun and trendy shorts & clutch
Perfect outfit xx
Maria is just incredible isn’t she?! Such a knack for mixing pieces to create beautiful outfits. And Melinda did a great job of recreating the look! S xx
Maria, you look fabulous. Of course, dahlink!
I wear cuffed shorts belted over opaques with boots and a knit like Maria’s above. I scored a gorgeous cashmere Ginger & Smart one for $9 from my local Vinnies. Now that’s a bargain! I have some mustard cord shorts from Sussan and some black paperbag waist ones from Cue.
I remember the Twitter hunt for that clutch during Melbourne Fashion Week!
Kim-Marie you are the queen of bargain shopping! I want you to share your secrets with me

It’s a date, Melinda! X
I want to do a blog post about your wardrobe! I would love to have a peek inside that treasure trove!
You and me both Belinda! Maria has amazing style (and don’t even get me started on those legs!!). M x
Oh, and I do own more than 15 pairs of jeans. Shameful. I just recently turfed out about 10 pairs too, but found good homes for most of them.
Where did you say we can buy those legs again? I can’t seem to find them in the fine print!
Great outfit. Those shorts are great, but I couldn’t wear them…
My love of jeans has been culled – we had a flood with a resulting flood of mould and my adorable jeans collection had to go. I am down to one pair and until I lose this last bit of weight, that is it for me for now. But – when I back to my ideal size, I will be hitting the shops and buying a rainbow of jeans. Mark my words, but don’t tell Mr Cool. I have a 12 step readiness program for him!
Great post!
Again, thank you ladies for the feature! I’m really glad to be here
and big thank you to all of you who commented for your kind words!!!
Love,
Maria xx
P.S. Seriously, I’ve never actually thought that my legs are ok until I started blogging (1 year ago).
