The Friday Five
November 30, 2012 in Lifestyle
Boy oh boy, what a month!
For those who have been following, you’ll know that this month my boys and I made the move from Brisbane to Townsville.
We are settling in nicely and I’ve learnt a few things about Townsville so far:
- It’s very, very hot.
- My hair and skin hate the heat.
- However, my washing loves the heat. Washed, pegged out and brought in all by 8 or 9am. Guess the hot weather is good for something!
- I’m yet to see a single crocodile. They don’t roam the streets of suburbia as I expected!
Like most months, today’s version of the Friday Five are a few items that have got me through the month, plus a wish list item or two!
1. Styling You ‘Forget The Rules’ iPhone 5 Case from The Dairy ($35)
The stylish and savvy Nikki from Styling You is taking over the world by storm with her real girl guide to style and (my favourite) lazy girl (but super effective) beauty tips. Last week Nikki the very first Styling You Manifesto which is available as a free PDF download. Take a piece of Nikki’s wisdom on the go with a phone case – I’m off to order mine right now, a lovely home for my brand new iPhone!
2. Garnier Oil Free BB Cream from Priceline ($10.99)
This is one of my hand bag must haves and my best friend this month. Long car trips and hotel hopping meant not a great deal of sleep and not much room for my entire bathroom cabinet of beauty products to hide it. This is one of those wonder products that provides the perfect base. I just finished with a little powder (keep reading for that!).
3. Plait Maxi Dress from Jay Jays ($29.95)
This has been my “throw it on and dress for the occasion” dress this month (not to mention a total bargain buy!). Whether I was in the car, heading out for dinner with the boys or unpacking at home, this dress is always one pair of cute sandals and a few accessories away from an instant outfit.
4. Bobble Water Bottle from Your Home Depot ($12.00)
Again, another hand bag must have but this has been used more than ever throughout our move, always within arms reach in the car to keep me hydrated.
5. Face of Australia Pressed Powder from Makeup Express ($10.95)
I’m a long time lover of Face of Australia and this powder is the perfect finish to my BB Cream base. Add some blush (anything by Benefit gets a tick from me) and some mascara (Face of Australia Impact Curl) and I feel done enough to run down to the shops but my skin still feels like it can breathe in this humid Townsville weather.
You might recognise two of this month’s favourites from my section of the What’s In Her Bag? post but in the interest of keeping it real, I included them both again as they’ve been on high rotation.
What have you been loving throughout November?
Stay Chic,
Melinda x

What colour do you get Anya? I’m toting around a pink bobble at the moment. Love! M x
How great is Makeup Express?
New kids on the block but SO good.
I have got to get myself one of those phone cases – I have casually mentioned it and emailed the link to the Welshman a few times! Subtle! x
Haha, I’m fond of the ‘subtle’ hint Kim-Marie!
I wanted to buy all three… had to put some self control in place

OOooo I really like that dress – did it come in any other colours?
I do love me an “everywhere” dress or two – that’s why I blogged about it yesterday!
It came in purple too Janet.
