Get Her Chic: Maria from Crashing Red

August 1, 2012 in Fashion

Happy Wednesday Chicettes!

Last month we had the delight of having Bec from My Bloggable Day on Shop Me Chic rocking an on-trend neon outfit.

Today it’s a denim-free zone as we have our second guest blogger in the ‘Get Her Chic’ series, the super stylish Maria from CrashingRed.

;

Hi lovely ladies! My name is Maria. I currently reside in Sydney where we’re bringing up our brand new daughter and blogging at CrashingRed.com. I started blogging as a hobby and it quickly became my day (and night, 24/7) job. Feel free to pop over to have a look at what I do and most importantly, join us on Twitter or Facebook to talk about fashion, style and fun & easy DIY projects.

How would I describe my style? Eclectic, while I love to dress up in a rather feminine way (as say the look that I’m presenting here today) on a daily basis jeans are my uniform. Luckily I own about 15 pairs in all different colours so the opportunities for creating various outfits are endless!

About my outfit: Our friends organised a cocktail party last weekend and I took it as an opportunity to dress up. The shorts I scored during recent EOFY sales, because of their print I couldn’t resist. As for the rest, I bought the sweater in Moolooloba for $16! The shirt is from my corporate past and the heels were bought in Melbourne. The clutch has a separate story but it basically represents my incurable addiction to all things sparkly. So the look is essentially what my personal style is – a good mix of designer and very affordable items as well as things that were hanging in my wardrobe for many years. It’s not what you wear, its more about HOW you wear it ;)

Have a lovely day!

Xx

Maria

Maria is wearing:

Shakuhachi shorts, Zambessi shirt, No brand sweater, Tony Bianco heels, Forever New clutch, Bvlgari necklace (gifted)

Here is our take on Maria’s outfit:

We love Maria’s fun and feminine style. The pop of red on her nails paired with the sparkly Forever New clutch keeps this mostly black and white outfit being anything but ordinary!

1. BLK DNM Silk Shirt from Shopbop ($94.12 at 50% off)

2. Black Patent ‘Karissa’ from Tony Bianco ($149.95)

3. Shakuhachi Burlesque Borders Short from Urban Outfitters ($119.99)

4. Glam Geo Hardcase Clutch from Forever New ($59.99)

5. Loose Fit Black Knit from Cocolatte ($14.99)

6. House of Harlow 1960 Double Starburst Station Necklace from Shopbop ($87.18)

Now if only we had legs like Maria’s to pair with those shorts…!

Is this feminine outfit something you see yourself wearing?

Stay tuned tomorrow for the return of denim week… and speaking of denim, do you share Maria’s love of jeans? We would love to know if you own more than 15 pairs!

Stay Chic,

Melinda & Sonia. xx

Colour Me Chic…Yellow

May 29, 2012 in Beauty, Fashion

This is such a fun series! We take a colour (turquoise and coral previously) and pick the very best fashion, accessories and beauty products in that particular colour.

Today we’re colouring your world the bright, sunny shade of yellow!

The easiest way to inject some yellow into your beauty routine is with nail polish. Pastel, bright, neon – let your fingers do the talking!

Nubar ‘Mello Yellow’ from Salon Style ($11.88)

Hello Darling in ‘Rubber Duckie’ ($18.95)

China Glaze ‘Lemon Fizz’ from Crush Cosmetics ($10.95)

A happy colour like yellow means accessories to make you smile. I’m loving the neon ’Flavia’ bag from Luxe by Lulu – how amazing is that colour?!

Colette Accessories Padlock + Stitching Wallet ($29.95)

Sportsgirl Bordered Gem Studs in ‘Amber’ ($9.95)

Luxe By Lulu ‘Flavia’ Handbag ($46.50)

Sometimes there’s nothing better than keeping your outfit incredibly simple and then having an unexpected pop of colour. The stunning Topshop neon lace dress is an outfit in itself.

Cocolatte Coloured Jeans ($14.99)

Dotti British Ponte Skater Skirt (on sale $29.95)

Topshop Neon Lace Flippy Dress (approx $73.92)

I’ve always had a weakness for statement shoes and these babies are definitely making a statement – loud and clear! The ASOS ballet flats would look especially cute with a pair of cuffed jeans, striped top and leopard print scarf. Of course I had to get leopard print somewhere in this post!

Topshop Platform Pointed Courts (approx $80.35)

ASOS ‘Lottie’ Leather Ballet Flats ($34.00)

Tony Bianco ‘JORCA2′ Heels from Wanted Shoes ($179.95)

And they are my yellow picks!

Want to join in with our Colour Me Chic fun? Tell us how you’re wearing yellow on Twitter with the hashtag #colourmechic or post a pic on Facebook!

We love hearing your suggestions, so let us know what colour you would like to see on our next Colour Me Chic post.

Stay Chic,

Sonia. xx

A Chic Trend: Prints

May 22, 2012 in Fashion

We’ve already covered the colour trends from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) and we’ve also taken a closer look at the peplum trend. Another wearable trend to emerge from MBFWA are prints. Subtle. Bold. Digital. Clashing. The fun of prints is that you can wear them in any way that suits your style.

Here are some pieces that can easily be imprinted in your wardrobe…

Tops

A simple way to add a print to an outfit is to go for a printed top. It’s also incredibly versatile, as you can wear a printed blouse with your suit to work or a printed top with jeans and ballet flats on the weekend.

Lucy In The Sky ‘Miss Freaky’ Top ($39.00)

ModCloth ‘Love Letterpress’ Top ($49.99)

Nasty Gal ‘Starburst’ Top ($38.00)

Bottoms

A fun way to rock the print trend is to do it down below…! Printed pants, skirts or leggings are a fab way to add a point of interest to an otherwise simple outfit.

Junk ‘Everlong’ Pant from Freez (on sale $20.00)

Cocolatte Purple Snake Print Skirt ($14.99)

Supre ‘Essex’ Printed Tights ($20.00)

Dresses

And finally the ultimate way to make a statement with prints – the dress. For day or evening, a print dress is a great go-to and instant outfit for embracing the print trend.

Maurie & Eve Ikat Print Peplum Dress from All About Fashion ($179.00)

Ally Fashion Digital Print Skater Dress ($45.00)

Princess Polly ‘Only Once’ Dress ($75.00)

Will you be wearing prints this Spring/Summer 2012-13?

Stay Chic,

Sonia. xx
