The Friday 5

February 22, 2013 in Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle

Can somebody please tell me how we are coming to the end of February already? I cannot believe it!

Not only are we getting closer to my wedding which I am very excited for, we are getting closer to my wedding which I’m very under prepared for! I think I must have been born without the crazy, planning bride gene! (I’m just full of standard ‘crazy’ genes!)

I was going to sum up my month, but to be honest – I’m drawing blank! What have I done all month? Besides writing here on Shop Me Chic, cooking and cleaning for my family, playing with my two boys, reading Where Is The Green Sheep? a little too many times, spending time with my husband to be, working over on Little Boo-Teek, taking my boys to swimming lessons and (of course!), online shopping. Oh and dealing with a broken iPad, laptop, TV and most recently, washing machine!

Yep, what a month!

Here’s what I have been loving this month…

1. Billabong Crystal Wave Rash Shirt from City Beach ($45.99)

Now that we are doing swimming lessons, I thought a rash shirt would be best when I’m in the pool with Lawson. I already bought this in navy and love it, so imagine my excitement when I saw this colour – add to cart!

2. Kardashian Kollection Catseye Sunglasses from Sears ($31.06)

I actually bought these in-store from Equip but Sears do ship to Australia. I love a pair of cheap sunglasses as I tend to lose or break them often and I’m a little obsessed with the cats eye styles at the moment!

3. Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum from Beauty & Me ($13.99)

Townsville has been less than kind to my hair and this little bottle of coconut heaven leaves it feeling soft and to be honest, smelling delicious!

4. Face of Australia Budge Proof Eyeliner from Fashion Addict ($8.95)

My love affair with gel liners started long ago and this bargain buy is no exception. Easy to apply and perfect for rocking the winged eye look (best paired with a red lip if you ask me!)

5. In Love Heel in Black from Novo Shoes ($69.95)

Every girl needs at least one pair of sparkly shoes in her wardrobe and at this price, why not add the red pair to your cart as well… or was that just me? I’ll be rocking the black pair this weekend as my fiance and I head out for our first child free night in about 12 months!

What have you been loving this month? Did you get married overseas – any planning tips for me?

Stay Chic,

Melinda xx

Shop Her Chic: Mez from Domestic Divinity

January 16, 2013 in Fashion

One of our favourite series returns for the first time in 2013 but this time, with a brand new name!

The concept of Get Her Chic will continue with a new blogger and their style featured each month but from now on the series will be known as Shop Her Chic.

To kick off Shop Her Chic for 2013, we have the beautiful (and glowing!) Mez from Domestic Divinty!

I have something to admit. I don’t follow trends, I don’t consider myself fashionable and I have never purchased Vogue magazine.  I know. Don’t hold it against me, please.

I have always been a slightly lazy person, often considering hanging up clothing after wearing it as too much effort and if it smells good from the pile in my bedroom, it will do.

I do try and dress for my body type though and being 32 weeks pregnant (at the time this article goes live) has thrown me some curve balls, literally.  I have always been small yet curvy with an hourglass figure. I knew how to dress for my body type and that was by either wearing tailored fitted dresses with a length that hit the knee or full skirted dresses with a nipped in waist.  I currently have tubs full of over 80 beautiful dresses which I hope to be wearing again soon after the baby is born.

I don’t really wear pants. They just never seem to fit me right, standing at 158cm has it’s downfalls in the clothing alteration department. Pants also do not hide sins in the same way that skirts or dresses do if you ask me.

As for maternity wear, I have tried to wear what I find to be comfortable and will be wearable after our daughter is born in early March 2013. I have seen a lot of beautiful maternity wear but cannot justify the cost of the majority of it, preferring to find a bargain from Target, Big W, Sportsgirl or Kookai instead.  The only down fall of buying clothes that are not Maternity is that the bigger the bump gets, the shorter the dress gets and for someone who doesn’t particularly love her knees, this is an issue.

I am trying to embrace necklaces more and more these days as I find they can liven up a dull outfit and are a great and inexpensive way to change the look of that dress that you have been wearing to death lately.

I confess that I do not have a great love for shoes and handbags like most other girls that I know, I am quite content to wear the same shoes to death (quite literally, I don’t buy a new pair until the current pair fall apart usually) and bang around the same bag.

The outfit in these photos was taken when we attended a casual Engagement Party but is pretty true to my every day style at the moment.

Dress: Sussan

Necklace: Catherine Stein purchased in New York City

Clutch: Sussan

Sandals: Witchery

Nail Polish: OPI I’m Indi-A Mood For Love

I do think that if you look in the mirror, give yourself a wolf whistle and strut out the door – you are not only feeling good but lookin’ good too and it doesn’t matter what you are wearing or how others perceive you and your style.

Someone once referred to my blog, Domestic Divinity, as a Fashion Blog and I nearly choked on the dumpling I was eating. Fashion Blog? Me? No way. I ‘run’ a Lifestyle blog which is basically me sharing tidbits of my very regular life which may include posts on Weddings, Outfits of The Day, Eating Out, Beauty Reviews and Babies. I don’t follow any plan on what to write and just write about what is relevant to me. Blogging has introduced me to some of my very good friends and it is incredible to have such a network on Twitter, Facebook, Blogger and Instagram.

Here’s our take on Mez’s gorgeous maternity style…

1. Hora Maxi Dress from Sportscraft ($41) // 2. Natasha Stone Necklace from Forever New ($24.99) // 3. OPI Indi-a Mood for Love from MBeautyLounge ($6.45) // 4. Kardashian Kollection Coco Woven Clutch from EverMe ($69.99) // 5. Tony Bianco Jiselle Flat in Nude ($89.95)

Do you love Mez’s pregnancy style as much as we do? What do you think of the newly renamed Shop Her Chic?

The Friday Five

June 29, 2012 in Lifestyle

Welcome to The Friday Five!

On the last Friday of every month we post The Friday Five, which is a round up of products we’ve been loving for the past month.

This month though, we’ve got a special kollection of items – it is Kardashian Week here at Shop Me Chic, after all!

So here are my picks for The Friday Five: Kardashian Edition…

1. Kardashian Kollection Winter 2012 Diamond Quilted Tote from Westfield ($129.95)

There’s something so chic about a gorgeous tan bag. This Kardashian Kollection number has all the elements I look for in a bag – decent size, great straps and just the right amount of detail.

2. Belle Noel by Kim Kardashian Enameled Bracelet from One Honey Boutique ($69.00)

Kim’s jewellery collection is called Belle Noel – Noel being her middle name. There are some beautiful pieces in the collection and this bracelet was a standout favourite for me. Classic yet modern, this is a versatile bracelet that would work for day or night.

3. Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors in ‘Follow Me On Glitter’ from One Honey Boutique ($14.95)

The Kardashian Kolors for Nicole by OPI are one of the best nail polish brands I’ve ever used. The consistency is great, it is easy to apply, dries quickly and there are some really fun colours to try. I’m having a total metallic moment with my nails and ‘Follow Me On Glitter’ is the perfect choice.

4. Kardashian Kollection Winter 2012 Quilt Trifold Wallet from Westfield ($49.95)

A pop of colour is a great accessory to any outfit, so why not have a colourful wallet?! This quilted wallet from the Winter 2012 collection comes in a vibrant orange meaning it not only looks fantastic, but is easy to find in the depths of your handbag!

5. Belle Noel by Kim Kardashian Suede Pyramid Earrings from One Honey Boutique ($79.00)

And finally, how could I go past these leopard earrings from Kim’s Belle Noel collection?! I mean really. It wouldn’t be a post by Sonia if there wasn’t some leopard print thrown in for good measure! I’m glad to see the Kardashian sisters share my love of this purrfect print. Surprisingly I don’t own a pair of leopard print earrings. Something tells me this is going to change very soon…!

What items have made your Friday Five this month?

Stay Chic,

Sonia. xx

Celebrity Chic: Khloe Kardashian

June 27, 2012 in Fashion

This week, we have featured Mason and Kourtney and today we have another one of my favourite Kardashians, Khloe.

I have a soft spot for Khloe. I think she is a great model for young girls. I love Khloe’s confidence and the fact that she doesn’t succumb to the pressure to be a size zero. Not to mention how adorable the love her and Lamar share, it melts my heart!

Here is our Celebrity Chic outfit for today:

This Khloe Kardashian outfit is perfect for the school run or brunch with a friend. Add a blazer, statement necklace and some killer boots to take this look from day to night. If heels aren’t your cup of tea, check out our flat boot picks!

1. Navy Striped Top from Debenhams ($34.20 approx.)

2. Skinny Jean with Distressed Finish from ASOS ($47.61)

3. Publicity Photo Bag from Modcloth ($59.99)

4. Celina from Saria Shoes ($69.00)

Is this an outfit you would wear? Do you have a favourite Kardashian when it comes to their sense of style?

Mini Celebrity Chic: Mason Disick

June 25, 2012 in Children

We frequently borrow outfit inspiration from celebrities with our Celebrity Chic posts, but today we have our very first Mini Celebrity Chic post. And who better to kick off the series with than the uber stylish, smallest Kardashian (until his little sister is born), Mason Disick.

Apart from being one of the coolets tots on the Hollywood block, we also chose Mason because today marks the first day of ‘Kardashian Week’ here at Shop Me Chic.

That’s right, an entire week of Kardashian themed posts to celebrate the new season of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ which launches on E! this week (if you tune in on Wednesday, we just might have a new giveaway that is Kardashian themed too!).

Kourtney Kardashian often talks about how much she loves dressing Mr Mason and he wore this sweater and jeans combo on a family trip to San Diego.  Mason’s outfit is also perfect for your toddler to run around at the park or for heading out on a babycino date with Mum.

If you don’t have a son, we have also taken inspiration to create an outfit for your little lady!

Ouch Slubby Stripe Tee from Little Styles ($19.95)

Jelly Jean from Cotton On Kids ($24.95)

Walnut Velcro Leather Loafer from Style Tread ($64.95)

Chunky Knit Dress from Seed ($31.96)

Lace Trim Jersey Leggings from Old Navy ($5.99)

Cream Leather Loafers from Skeanie ($49.95)

And that wraps up our very first Mini Celebrity Chic post!

Do you have a tot as stylish as Little Mason or do you have a tiny celebrity that you would like to see on our next Mini Celebrity Chic post?

Stay Chic,

Melinda. xx

The Friday Five

May 25, 2012 in Lifestyle

Welcome to… The Friday Five. Each month on the last Friday, we will be doing The Friday Five which is a round up of products we are loving for that month.

With the cold weather setting in, most of my Friday Five for May are Winter related – so grab a hot chocolate and cozy up with these picks!

1. Crinkle In Time Scarf in Teal from Modcloth ($15.99)

I am loving coloured scarves at the moment and in particular, from Modcloth. They have a great range, perfect for a girl on a budget (like myself!) and let’s be honest, I can’t resist anything when it comes in turquoise or teal!

2. Body For Women LoCarb Bars ($42 for a box of 12)*

Who can say no to strawberry cheesecake – not me! I’ve been loving these bars as a breakfast replacement or to curb my 3pm sugar binge. Not a cheesecake fan? No problem. Check out Swisse Chocolate or Lemon Meringue.

3. EMU Eden Slipper ($79)

I have been wearing mine a little more than I should admit… including out to the mail box! They keep my toes toasty on these Winter mornings but if we have a drop in visitor, I can kick them off easily before I answer the door. Plus they are Australian made – we should all be supporting our own fabulous brands!

4. Nicole By OPI Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam from The Nail File Shop ($15.95)

One of my favourite polishes from the Nicole By OPI Kardashian Kolours collection. Not only is the colour – a deep teal creme – divine and perfect for Winter, but it was inspired by two of my favourite Kardashians, Khloe & Lamar!

5. Lanolips 101 Ointment from Addicted 2 Lip Balm ($17.95)

If you are serious about keeping dry lips away, this is the only lip product you need. Made from pure lanolin, this little tube will not only keep your lips soft but has 101 uses (hence the name). Personally I have used it for dry lips, dry cuticles, cradle cap and baby nappy rash!

Do you have your very own Friday Five?

Stay Chic,

Melinda. Xx
