A Chic Feature: Vamastyle

March 21, 2012 in Fashion

The internet is a shopping addict’s dream. It opens up a whole new world of brands, designers and boutiques. One of our favourite finds lately is Vamastyle. The designs are fun, feminine and flirty and, just as importantly, won’t max out your credit card!
“Inspired by endless Summer holidays, the Vama collections are designed for the all-year-round Summer lifestyle, delivering a fresh, feminine, and vibrant style.”
Last week we were lucky enough to have a chat with Vamastyle designer Kaitie about all things fashion, style and Vama.
How do you find inspiration for your collections?
My new favourite inspiration source is Pinterest – it’s incredible the amount of reference images and inspiration you can find.
What designers do you admire and why?
Amy Smilovic from Tibi (New York) – I am obsessed with her effortless clean cut designs, and she always uses beautiful colours and prints. And Marc Jacobs (in particular his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs). He always has amazing prints and I love his vintage references in his collections.
What is your fail-safe outfit?
The One Night in Hong Kong playsuit (in Mandarin). The silk fabric feels amazing to wear and the frill sleeves make it super feminine and flattering.
What is your favourite outfit?
Right now I can’t get out of my new pink tailored shorts and spot silk blouse from the new collection out late April.
If we were going to add only 3 items to our winter wardrobe, what would you recommend?
Vamastyle’s new tailored shirt, black skinny jeans and leopard ballet flats.
Describe the Vamastyle woman.
Feminine, flirty and vibrant.
While there are so many beautiful designs, we managed to pick four favourite pieces…
Next time you need a new dress for that special occasion, a new skirt for work or simply a piece to spoil yourself, why not check out the chic and unique designs of Vamastyle – we know we will!
Stay Chic,

That One Thing: Black Blazer

February 27, 2012 in Fashion

‘That One Thing’ is going to be a regular fashion post here on Shop Me Chic. We will take one item of clothing and find it for you in three price points – under $50, between $50 and $150, and over $150.

For the very first post, That One Thing is something every woman needs in her wardrobe…a black blazer.

This little gem can be incorporated into any outfit, whether it is a chic corporate look for the office, a sophisticated casual ensemble on the weekend or with a fabulous cocktail dress for a night out on the town.

So whatever your budget, here are three fabulous black blazers to consider adopting and making your own…

Less Than $50

Asos Satin Lapel Tux Blazer, $48.66

They say: Oversized tuxedo blazer, featuring notched satin lapels, a single breast pocket and pockets to the waist with satin trims, a longline cut and long sleeve styling, and an oversized slouch fit.”

Sonia says: What are you waiting for?! Asos offer free delivery to Australia and at a bargain sale price of $48.66 (it’s 50% off!!), this is a guilt-free way of getting a fabulous blazer into your wardrobe. The tuxedo style is timeless and will see you through many seasons to come. I hope you’ve hit ‘Add To Bag’ by now…

Between $50 and $150

Bardot PU Boyfriend Blazer, $129.95

They say: “Tailored boyfriend blazer in a double breasted design with leather look lapel and non functional front pockets.”

Sonia says: I have had a black Bardot blazer in my wardrobe for over two years now and it is still going strong. It’s such a little nifty number that I call upon to trick up my simple weekend outfit of ponte leggings and longline singlet or to wear over a cute dress to take it to another level. The leather-look lapels give this blazer an edge and the affordable price point makes it a great alternative to the usual suit-type of blazer.

Over $150

KARL ‘James’ Satin Twill-Trimmed Crepe Blazer from Net-A-Porter, $270.26 (approx.)

They say: “Take inspiration from masculine tailoring with KARL’s tuxedo-style satin twill-trimmed blazer. Wear this precision-cut design with a panelled shirt and towering heels for the ultimate boy/girl blend.”

Sonia says: If you are going to spend over $150 on a blazer, you may as well go all out and buy yourself one that is delivered to you in a beautiful black box tied with ribbon. Once again, the tuxedo style is a versatile classic well worth investing in.

So there you have it. Three different blazers at three different price points, in That One Thing: the black blazer.

Happy shopping dolls!!

Stay chic,

Sonia

The Start of Something Chic

February 24, 2012 in Uncategorized

Melinda is an ideas girl. Always thinking of things she can invent, create or do. This is no mean feat, when you consider the fact that she has 2 gorgeous boys under the age of 3, is studying PR, tweets (@MummaInHeels) and blogs.

So one unsuspecting day, Melinda sent out an innocent little tweet with an idea of a website to showcase online stores and point readers in the direction of great prices. An ultimate online shopping directory.

The Twitter feedback was overwhelming, and in amongst those numerous positive replies, was one from Sonia (@ShesSonic), a full time Executive Assistant and fellow blogger (ShesSonic.com).

Melinda and Sonia had connected over Twitter and formed a friendship. They are both Virgos, love fashion and beauty, are both engaged to be married next year, are into everything Hollywood/celebrity and just…clicked.

Melinda asked Sonia if she wanted to get involved. Sonia loved the idea and thought it could be a one-stop-website, where you simply click on each item and buy it online.

A flurry of emails later, Shop Me Chic was born.

Shop Me Chic aims to bring you, our fabulous readers, the latest and greatest in Fashion, Beauty and Children with one main difference: everything we post on Shop Me Chic will be available to buy online.

We want to take the time-consuming search out of your busy day and have everything you could possibly need in one place and only one click away.

…So pour yourself a drink, make yourself comfortable and get ready to Shop Me Chic.

Stay chic,

Melinda + Sonia
